Looking Back

img_0326The other morning I visited the current campus of the  Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, (CCMS) located just ten minutes from my office. The current campus is twice removed from where I attended, but it is also a much more modern facility.

When I attended CCMS, there were a total of 36 mortuary science programs in the country. Today, there are 61.

I spent an hour with President Jack Lechner and Academic Chairwoman, Teresa Dutko, learning about the current program and makeup of students.  It was an informative visit and I had to chuckle a bit as the president had  some classic, The Grateful Dead playing as background music in his office.  Nice Touch.

While on a tour, I took a quick photo of my class picture which was hanging on the wall.

Most of us looked very serious as we prepared for a life of looking very serious.

I wonder how many of us are still in the business?

  1. My son has a good friend who I think went to this school. At least he went to mortuary school in Cincinnati.
