Earlier this week, I came up with the idea of taking each letter of the alphabet and creating a CD for my car with songs that start with that letter. iTunes makes it fairly easy, except that I have over 12,000 songs in my account. The challenge is culling the number of songs down to fit on a CD.
Starting with “A”, here is one of the songs that I came across that I hadn’t heard in years.
The Hooters were based in Philadelphia, PA and were the epitome of the bands of the 1980’s….Thanks to MTV, when they actually played music videos, before becoming an outlet for depravity.
Playing to a hometown audience at The Spectrum….
.
I loved MTV when it was actually playing music videos. First song ever played on MTV – Video Killed The Radio Star – remember that??

In addition to being one of the anchor tune on my “Morning Energy” playlist, this also includes one of my all-time favorite lines: “She could dance all night and shake the paint off the wall.”

They played at my college quad party when colleges didn’t care about their students drinking. The school actually served beer. They attended a party after the concert at a good friend of mine’s house. Since I was drinking heavily I don’t remember much about them being there except them walking through the door. But boy it was a fun day. From what I can remember that is.

I thought this one might get a few comments.
Those were different times…yes, I remember sanctioned “Keggers” sponsored by the college. We had a “rathskeller” and a coffee shop that served beer and wine. Bernie and I would occasionally be the entertainment for the assembled students. Life was uncomplicated back then.
In 1978, the drinking age in MD was 18….that made it simple, but it also killed a lot of kids over the years. Unfortunately, new still don’t do a good job of preparing our kids for the world of alcohol.
Thanks for the comments and memories.
