Of Men, Strong Shoulders & The Mount

If you are a “Mountie” you might relate to this. . . there are “back story” links, which you will only see after clicking on the blog link below.

I was thinking about Fr. Paul this evening.

“One day others may look back on all of us and realize, hopefully with gratitude, that they sit on our shoulders and continue to make real, the unending dream of what it means to be a Catholic liberal arts college — an academic community enlightened by faith.  — Fr. Paul Redmond, Mt. St. Mary’s College, April 1992.

Fr. Paul, the last living member of the Mount’s “Council of Priests”,  died on October 19, 2014 and I was in Emmitsburg and took this photo as his still -fresh grave was blaneted by the season’s first snowfall on December 11, 2014.

I have written about my time at “The Mount.”  My article, “A Walk in The Rain” was publshed in the alumni newsletter a few years back.

The story, “What I did on my day off” tells of a 2010 trip to “Mary’s Mountain” and mentions my last visit with Fr. Paul.

I will always be thankful for those years.
