The Last Test

In every state but Colorado, there is a test you need to take, after you pass the National Board Exam, (NBE)  to be licensed as a funeral director in that particular state.

While the NBE’s are very broad in scope, the state tests require you to have a good knowledge of that state’s laws and regulations. . .  and each state  is a little different than the other.  Image 1

I took the New Jersey exam in 1983,   Pennsylvania in 1993,  South Carolina  in 1996 and the Michigan, yesterday.  It would have been embarrasing had I not passed it.

The plan is that we are done and there will be no more tests.

Despite there being diplomas and qualifications available, as far as I know over here in the UK anyone can be a Funeral Director without any certification.
