After four weeks in my new position, I have finally located all the rest rooms and feel I am able to begin to contribute as opposed to simply observing..

I have no idea who these characters are, but thei point is well taken.

I have no idea who these characters are, but their point is well taken.

It has been shocking to me as I experience the differnces between funeral service in Michigan compared to South Carolina.  Complicating matters a bit is that for the last several years, most of my time was spent with a low-cost, cremation society and now, I am associated with a concierge-type  firm that even operates it’s own catering company for on/off-site catering.  It’s actually pretty interesting and eitomizes that “Don’t worry about that, we will take care of it for you” attitude.

Like atheletes develop muscle memory, I suppose the same can be said for any task and I find myself automatically doing things  the old way, by reflex.  This is frustrating for me (and often for those around me)  and I have asked so many questions, that I feel like the new apprentice boy.

Stress for the new guy and stress for the old-timers.  Luckily, everyone is being very kind towards me.

Stress isn’t always bad and keeps us on our toes and always thinking.

Still, no snow.

  1. Ray, being born and raised Toledo, you are risking the wrath of Mother nature when you joke about the snow especially in July. With the damage you’ve done now, the least you can expect is a snowmagedon category 12. Good luck Bro.
ps now it’s a guarantee that you’ll get snow Easter Sunday!
