The Commander

In my last entry, I made reference to hoping to have lunch today in Roanoke, VA with a business associate.

Mission Accomplished.

Schedules lined up and I was fortunate to spend an hour with Jeff Harbeson and his business partner/friend, Steve Zittle.

Jeff is getting his name known in our (death care types) circles because of some really innovative ideas and his not so subtle blog, The Funeral Commander.

His blog  is a lesson in funeral service reality testing.

We first met  four years ago, stay in touch on a regular basis, and get together whenever we have the chance.  My journey North today was to take me within 10 minutes of  his office, so we had the chance.

Lively, passionate discussion and great, healthy food. . . a superb combination.

And even though lunch was my suggestion, he and Steve were gracious enough to pick up the tab.

Although we parted and went in different directions,  we each enjoyed a very nice cigar on the way to our next stop, which for me was Emmitsburg, MD.
