Five years have gone by in the blink of an eye. That’s how long I’ve been working in a funeral home. As a lot of you know, I landed my first gig in the funeral biz when I was only twenty. One of my favorite aspects of being a funeral director are the humbling experiences that I get to be apart of. I get to take part in sacred and intimate exchanges during the funeral. When closing the lid of the casket, I gaze into the face of the deceased, knowing that I am the last one to see the face of this person; knowing full well that I am not worthy of that honor.
