I have been holding on to this little graphic for a few days and decided to build it out this morning. In the spirit of full-disclosure, it was sent to me by a friend. Kent, a drummer, and I used to play together and we actually took a road trip a few years ago to see Rush perform in Greensboro, NC.
Mr. Lee brings up a good question. Below is a video of a “sound check” of Limelight, with Geddy saving most of his aging voice for later that evening and then a few live pieces…20 minutes in all. This video illustrates him doing all the things he claims in the picture.
Yea, they are getting older and rumor is that the current tour is their last. But musically, they are still creating and nailing it after forty years of being together.
I must admit that if asked today to name one, Beyonce song, I could not do so. Luckily, I can go to the great oracle, Google and learn more than I want to know and see more than I should be able to see. My opinion is that most of her appeal has to do with the recurring, immodest display of her natural (?) assests. Take away the visual, admittedly this is being written by a 55 year old, white guy, and the music is mediocre at best.
I would think that if you put Beyonce’s voice in Geddy Lee’s body (sorry pal), very few people would pay to see her or buy her records.
If you put Geddy Lee’s voice in Beyonce’s body…she would still be attractive, but sound like a sixty-one year old Jewish guy from Canada.
What else can I say?
