Thursday night, (recorded that afternoon, actually) Jim Sonefeld was playing drums on the David Letterman Show in New York City.
Less than twenty-four hours later, he was in Aiken, SC, speaking to some folks at a local church about his tranistion from being a drunk, addict drummer to a sober believer in Jesus Christ. Interestingly enough, we both began our respective journeys in 2004.
I needed to be there to hear his story. There were a lot of people who were invited who needed to hear it and many didn’t make it.
Their loss.
It was a great night, the short version characterized by this previously published YouTube video.
Jim was great and I had the opportunity to have a few words with him before he began. I asked him about my favorite “Hootie” song, I Will Wait and he explained that he wrote it in Amsterdam after not being able to get the progression of a song by the Little River Band out of his head.
He shared God’s love this evening and I am so glad that I took the time to come meet him and hear his story in person.
We all have stories, don’t we?
Inspirational story…and love Hootie too…Thanks for sharing Ray
