A New Priest

On Friday evening, I attended the Ordination To The Priesthood of Deacon Renaurd West at the Cathedral of St. John The Baptist in Charleston, SC.

It was a joyous event and Fr. West will be a great priest. I will always consider him a dear friend. I first met him in 2009 when he was in his first year of the Seminary at Mt. St. Mary’s University, my alma mater. We have stayed in touch and I have visited him whenever I came through Emmitsburg.

He was the last of the seminarians from the Diocese of Charleston to graduate from “The Cradle of Bishops”.

The men of our diocese are now formed in Texas.

That saddens me.
