Edward George Power Biggs

AKA E. Power Biggs
AKA the greatest organist of the twentieth century.images-1

E. Power Biggs died on this date back in 1977.

Regarded as the premier keyboard/organist of his time, (by everyone but Virgil Fox and his family) he had over fifty albums to his credit.

I was visiting a friend in Boston in the late 1980’s and he took me for a tour of Mt. Auburn Cemetery and it was there that I took the picture (with a Cannon AE-1) of his headstone.

I was told by my friend, the funeral director that handled Bigg’s service, that there was not one note of music played…at his widow’s request.
