On Monday, we had a funeral service at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC. I had the pleasure of driving there with Rev. Bob Byrne, Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, here in Aiken.
Pastor Byrne and I have always had a cordial relationship as we share the experience of being from “someplace up North”, but are fortunate to find ourselves living in Aiken. We used the seventy-five minute drive each way to discuss recent changes and ramifications in both of our respective churches. Whenever I talk about the Lutheran Church, I cannot help but remember watching Davey & Goliath on Saturday mornings in the 1960’s.
It was not until many years that I realized that A Mighty Fortress is Our God was just not the theme song for the series.
When you think that you are “all alone”….. be reminded that “God is everywhere”.
From time to time, I find myself repeating those words to myself….along with me mimicking Goliath from another episode, saying, “Davey, I’m scared”
Enjoy a good story that is innocent, simple and moral….characteristics lost in today’s sad excuses for TV shows.
Anyone besides me remember this?

One of my favorite sayings is my impersonation of Goliath saying, “Davey, I’m Scared”
