Early Start

I was off to an early start, blocking off several parking spaces in front of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church for a funeral later this morning. The church is located next to the Aiken County Court House and if we don’t get the spaces blocked before 7:30am, we will have no parking for those attending the funeral. I get it done by 7:00.

It is just another one of the many things that goes on behind the scenes at a funeral home that you really don’t think about.

It was a beautiful dawn today and I took this photo to remember it by.

About Ray V.

Living between Aiken & Charleston,, South Carolina, USA, I like to share what I am looking at, thinking about or listening to. I refer to this as the view out my window. Thanks for stopping by.

    Ahhh, the memories….

Your description of your mornings events conjures curiously fond memories of the apprehensions I felt each morning while preparing for funerals. No matter how many funerals and services conducted, I never got past those–even though events almost always unfolded nearly precisely as carefully planned out.

But then, it’s those “almost” perfect days that become the basis for the great raconteurs such as Dodge’s Jerome Burke.

    And, beautiful photograph, Ray.

  2. Ah, this I remember……

We work in the world of “unforseen events” at so many levels that I have often stated that one of the key traits to being able to stay in this endeavor is to be able to change plans on a dime and make it look like it was the original plan all the time.

I am hoping to start my book this summer. It will be called

“There is Only One Family named The Waltons; The Musings of a Simple, Village Undertaker”

    Reserve your copy now.

And BTW…you have recently put up some great articles that I hoped to re-blog, but haven’t found the time yet.
