A blogger, Michael Wade earlier today posted a link to my my blog, asking the question, ” Why read a blog named A Simple, Village Undertaker? … Because it is about life.
I never looked at it that way and I might have to ask Michael if I can steal that as a tag line.
So, since the blog really is mostly about life, here is a little plug for life in Aiken, SC.
A few years ago, I overheard June Murff, then President of the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce make the following comment, “If you are lucky enough to live in Aiken, you are lucky enough”. During my days as the Chairman of the Aiken Downtown Development Association, I started using the phrase, “There are a lot worse places to live than Aiken”
Aiken is a great place to live and work….just sayin’
Proof of it’s vitality is the fact that the downtown stores are flourishing, that we have not one, but two Wal-Mart’s and work is underway for our own Cracker Barrel. That is an accomplishment because as most of you know, Cracker Barrels are usually found at Interstate Exits. This one will be approximately 16 miles from Interstate 20…not bad. The Cracker Barrel People know a good location when they see it. If you want to learn more, just use your trusty search engine and be prepared because there is a lot to see.
And if you ever come to town, stop by and say hello. There is always a pot of coffee and freshly baked cookies waiting.
Spoken by a true Chamber of Commerce member. . .always proud of our communities!
