The latest album from Steve Forbert, Over With You was released on September 11, 2012.
You may recall I have written about Steve several times and most recently, voiced my disappointment with the last time we traveled to Atlanta to see Steve live.
I almost decided not to download the album, but am glad I did. If Steve can keep doing this, maybe we will get 30 more years before he is “out of here”.
This CD, is probably the best studio album Steve has served up since the compilation album, More Young Guitar Days, released in 2002…and before that, Rocking Horse Head,(1996), my all time favorite.
I have been listening to this new music as much as I could since downloading it Tuesday afternoon…it reminds of the music I fell in love with in the late 70′s-early 80′s while at college. Steve has captured the magic that seemed to have been missing in the last few studio albums, (sorry, buddy, but welcome home).
Here is a 28 minute interview with Steve at the studio of WSM in Nashville, promoting the new album. In the interview, he briefly acknowledges the show from Atlanta that I referenced above.
This is a shorter, interview with Steve, discussing the album, along with a video for one of the new songs and then a promo for another.
Steve Forbert is one of the great songwriters/musicians of my generation. It is unfortunate that he is not as well known as he deserves to be.
You can help change that.
