Fireflies

Rob provides us a reminder that summer is almost over with If You Catch A Firefly, causing me to realize that I cannot recall the last time I have actually seen a firefly.

As a child growing up in New Jersey, they were everywhere. We would go out on a summer’s night and collect literally hundreds of them, putting them in a glass jar, thus creating a lantern.

Why are there no fireflies in this part of South Carolina?…and why has not the federal government done something to save them?

(In case you are a new reader and do not know me yet, please insert sarcasm as you read that last line)

It should come as no surprise that this also reminds of a song…..
