Occasionally, I am reminded of the days when I used to listen to Dean Friedman “records” on Sunday mornings, starting back at college. In 1984, I bought my first CD player, but it took almost nine years before I could find a CD of his.
Dean had more appeal in Europe and I had to get a friend who was visiting the UK to get me the CD (long before online ordering)
Great music and the catalogue and a little something for every taste. He is still playing today.
From 1978…there are some “live” versions of this, but nothing comes as close to the studio recording as far as tonal quality.
From Dean’s Website: ‘Well, Well,’ Said the Rocking Chair’ [1978] – Dean’s classic 2nd album, containing the hits: Lydia, Rocking Chair and the classic duet Lucky Stars, as well as numerous popular favorites such as S&M, the Deli Song and Shopping Bag Ladies. Every cut a gem. This critically acclaimed album contains track after track of stunning musicianship and lyric writing – a perfect wedding of words to music, yielding uniquely original and richly creative songs – confirming Dean as a world class singer/songwriter and recording artist. A must have for any songwriting aficionado and fan.
Enjoy.
