Seek Out Some Joy

It has been a scary 36 hours or so after the shootings in Colorado. Our middle daughter, Elissa, was at the midnight premier of The Dark Knight Rises in Columbia, (SC) with some friends.

My, how fragile life is.

John’s parents were some of the first people we met in SC when we moved here. I do not have permission disclose too much about him, but…if something happened in Columbia that night like in Colorado…John would probably be a hero. He comes from an outstanding family and as I reflect on what happened in CO, I cannot think of another young man who I would prefer to be with my daughter if she found herself in danger.

As we focus on the evil that took place and question our society, let us remember that there is good….there are happy families, there are well adjusted young adults and there is joy..it is just that the media does not promote it, as it is not as exciting as the carnage that took place in Aurora.

I always try to look at the glass as half full as opposed to half empty. Below is a song by the band L’Angelus. They are actually a family and you can see their kids in the video. I think it would be great if all families could create videos like this….the world would be better off. I am sure they have their bad days, but you can just feel the joy, (Even though I do not understand Creole) in this video.

The world needs more joy. It would be wonderful for these young people to replace the Kardashian’s on TV.
