I remember moving to Columbia, SC in September 1996 during a similar streak of warm weather. One of our new neighbors came over and introduced himself. As usual, the topic of the weather came up and he asked me the following question: 
“Do you know what the difference between Columbia and hell is?” No, please tell me was my response.
“There are not any screen doors in hell” was the reply.
